So we're all buying Toyotas now 🤔

It sure is an ugly little car, but I’d definitely take one and drive the heck out of it. How’s the reliability?

SUV-ish with lots of room and (I assume) decent fuel economy. Win win IMO plus if it gets car door dinged, no big deal. 🤷‍♂️

You mentioned the hood needed a little love. Why not go to the automotive paint store and buy some sandpaper, primer, and a rattle can of the exact paint code and some clear. For a couple hours work you could have that hood looking great. It might not be perfect but much better than than it looks now with the paint chipped. Great write up on your restoration and the vehicle looks really nice.

Thanks for letting me know a little too late TPMS system 😮‍💨

Bidirectional controls 🤌

I had to re-alive a 2000 Eldorado that was forgotten in a parking lot

All the tools + a 5 gallon gas can with room to spare 🥰

Went to the Home Depot, an easy load floor saves my spine 💪

Let's talk about Raybestos brake parts
I like their EHT full coated rotors
I've had quite a bit of trouble with their pads and included hardware
I spent far too much time fussing, fiddling, and filing down the pad to make it not bind
I like the compound and feel, but they really gotta improve the fit and finish
They were a PITA on the rear of my Camry and they were even worse here
They’re just cheap aftermarket pads, nothing special.

Not sure why so many people on here are in love with them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why is the speedo displaying 123 MPH in park at idle?

PXL_20220617_193327968.jpg

38°ish to 40° inside, 92° of 60% humidity outside
I could probably get a little more out of it, but that's respectable cooling for at idle parked in the sunshine

Live data, all of which seems good
I did a zero point reset on the front seats for the SRS module
It didn't really need it, but now I can 🥰
FYI, the engine must be off, and you must be standing outside the vehicle
It's mighty sensitive
No new problems to note, I might try and tackle the exhaust leak, and polish the headlights proper over this weekend
My mother might be making use of it soon, she's not been driving for the best part of a decade, and I want to get her back into it
It was never for a lack of a vehicle, I suspect she was a victim of some road rage, and just never had the nerve to return
It's not like she can't return to her Villager, but it's getting tired (at only 60k😒)
She's also a larger yet shorter woman, so the list of vehicles that she can comfortably/safely operate is a fairly short one
The 2001 Villager was perfect in that sense
If she doesn't care for it or make use of it, we'll keep it around for odd jobs, or maybe I'll sell it and make a modest profit for a chance
I never profit 😮‍💨

That Villager/Quest was one of the last Ford/Nissan collabs and it has dual sliding doors. VG33E and 4-speed from an Maxima if I’m not mistaken? The Ford-built Quest is a dog(compared to the new for the time Odyssey and Sienna) but unless the timing belt goes(supposedly Ford wanted Nissan to modify rhe VG30/33 to freewheel if the belt goes) it’s hard to kill it.

How's the xB2 doing?
Good question ⁉️
It's plugging along doing the work

I sanded and polished the headlights
...I'm not very good at it
One came out noticably better than the other
Will try again whenever I could bother 😒
Been driving it around town, commuting, I rotate vehicles to prevent dead batteries
My coworkers find it somewhat unnerving when I show up in a different car every day of the week 👀

I'll recheck where the oil consumption stands in a day or two
It's still got a minor list of mechanical maladies
But it's by far and away the nicest and economical beater I've ever owned
It's also the first  beater? I've owned
20-23 MPG in city traffic with the A/C on
Starts and gets me where I need to be

This was 1qt of HPL engine cleaner, 3.5~qts of Maxlife 5w30
Looks like I just might make 3k before needing 1qt
Which is an improvement 👍
No visible smoke, which is an improvement over when I first bought it
We're currently 6 months and give or take ~5k miles into ownership
I'll calculate the costs soon

Does HPL deserve this credit or is this due to the piston soak?
