I admit, I do use Facebook, and I've known about Twitter since its infancy and had an account several times but it never really clicked with me. It can be used to Tweet news and information relatively quick, follow your favorite star and typically an ongoing race to see who has the most followers. But besides that what does it provide that texting or fb already doesn't? I mainly use it to get deals and thats about it.

How do you do that?
I also want to know. I've never once even gone to twitter.com. I hear enough about it through news and other people I feel like I'm a twitter pro.

Well I follow "groups" that tweet deals is more like it. Like @FreeStuff and for gaming deals I follow @Cheap...Gamer(CAG). The deals get tweeted throughout the day and click the link and see whats up or how to get it. Sorry for the mix up there. I myself don't know much about it, except how to follow and really no point for me to tweet, just wanted opinions on if any of you here use it, how useful you find it is and if its worth trying to get into?(time wise to tweet get friends on board ect?).

Why is it popular? Because the world is full of Twits.

Twitter absolutely smacks of navel-gazing supreme. Who could care about most people's half-baked nonsense. Having said that, maybe there's value I haven't seen yet? shrug

When Ohio's now-governor was running he made a big deal about being on Twitter. I subscribed thinking I would get valuable political information. What did I get? "Now I'm driving past Lima on I-75! Now I'm stopping in Findlay!" Talk about nonsense. John

Thats true as well, I've heard about people tweeting everything from the mundane to the idiotic. So far the only thing I've found it useful for are deals and following political tweets(actual news tweets) and using my news app on the iphone for more news(tech, business etc). Seems like I'm not alone on its worth (not very worthy).

I've used Twitter once... during the birth of my son. It allowed me to Tweet via txt message the progress of the birth and upload a photo or two in real time so that distant family could follow along. After that, I shut down the account and haven't touched it again.

I really don't understand all the hoo-rah over Facebook, Twitter, and all the other similar type sites. I've never even looked in on them, but have seen lots of copied excerpts posted elsewhere- talk about boring & self-centered!! Were these things originally set up to aid identity thieves, or do people believe they are that interesting? shrug

The latter. I have a FB and a twitter. Mostly to keep in touch with family on the former and keep track of various things on the latter. I post on FB maybe once a month and twitter never.

I have both, but rarely use both. I use FB more, but even then it is just something to look at when bored. We generally use it mainly for contests and such, which we have been successful with. We won an amazing trip to Southwest Airlines HQ last Halloween due to a twitter contest... Girlfriend entered and won. They flew us to Dallas and let us enjoy their amazing celebration at HQ! All expenses paid, and while there, girlfriend won the costume contest and we won two additional free round-trip tickets anywhere they fly. Pictures from that event I took: http://www.flickr.com/photos/invertalon/sets/72157625166808803/ We have won quite a few free meals at some restaurants we love, won a trip to media day at Kings Island for the opening of their new coaster and just yesterday won a free night stay at Hilton hotels. All through twitter/facebook. It is awesome for that! Can't beat it!

I use facebook to stay in touch with friends from back in the highschool days, former co workers and family. I lurk more than I post.
