I recently bought a case of this oil when it was on sale at Kmart for $1.80 a quart. I wondered at that price how much synthetic it contained. Today I spoke with a guy in the laboratory at Smitty's Supply in Roseland LA, and he told me the figure is 10% synthetic. Even though it's rated SN, that low percentage is disappointing.

I suppose it's the old saying: you get what you pay for?

So? If it meets SN, who cares how they do it? You're lucky they even told you that...most motor oil companies tell you zilch.

Thanks for the scolding and the lesson, teacher. I posted this to inform the members who may be using the product. BTW I'm using it in a 4K OCI in my Elantra. The engine runs quieter than it did with Mobil Super.

It's considered a Blend, most likely 10% PAO and 90% Group II mineral oil.

If it meets your car's API spec, you're good to go.
