Silicon hose couplers and UOA?

Hi All,

I'm about to install an intercooler on my Diesel 4runner, and got curious about the hose couplers I'll be using for the piping. They are made of silicon elastomer.. would the motor oil making it into the IC piping from the turbo, and eventually into the combustion chamber where it's burned show up as an increase in Silicon on a UOA?

Obviously I'll be keeping this in mind in my future UOA data, but was wondering if anyone had any input?

If that is the source of Si in your UOA, it is of no consequence.

The fear is Si from sand and dirt, which would be correlated with higher wear values, signaling an abrasive issue.

That's what I meant though.. if it added Si to the UOA then it becomes harder to track dirt contamination. All of this is IF it adds appreciable amounts of Si, which is what I'm trying to figure out.
