Silicon air filter link wrong?

If you look at the oil test on this site it appears the silicon comes from a source other than the air filter. It starts at 4ppm and immediately jumps to 9ppm and stays at this level
for 3000 miles. This would indicate it comes from something other than dirt getting in the oil. http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/stories/oil-life.html

Or during 0~1000mi, he could have taken a short-cut and drove over dusty terrain, got sucked into the air filter and now registers 9ppm. 1000~5000mi, he no longer drives down the old dusty road.

It's my test you're talking about so I thought I'd make an observation.

Silicon was at 4 ppm even from the virgin, unused oil. Silicon sometimes shows up as an antifreeze inhibitor so either M1 has slight amounts in it or somehow my sample got ever so slightly contaminated. Every measurement of used oil has shown 9 ppm with no change at all over the life of the test, so far. To me this again points toward slight amounts of silicon as an inherent part of the M1 blend. Even if it doesn't come from the oil itself, there is no way to determine whether the current reading is high or not, since so far every analysis on the engine has shown 9 ppm.

What will be interesting to see is how the silicon looks at the start of the next oil test, which will probably be in a month or so, if you can stand to wait that long.
