Been noticing that some of my rubbers grips on my guns and even my folding gun tool are getting rather sticky. Not sure what to use to make them NON Stick. Any ideas??
Time for replacement. I know it's not what you want to hear. I had a Ruger P89 that I stored for quite some time and my fancy rarely used rubber grips deteriorated (got sticky) from lack of use.
If you have hit them with solvents, then yeah. Toast.
I would try one thing first though. Soak them overnight in water. Then wash well in hot water and Dawn detergent. Wipe and air dry. If they are still too sticky, then yeah. Toast.
You're never really going to get them unsticky for any length of time. The technical term for the problem is "reversion" since the rubber is essentially returning to the original state before the molecules were crosslinked. Sometimes you can rub some talcum powder on the surface to help for a little while.
