Ok
I've owned four Porsche's over the years, decided to get back into one again!
I would rather buy a Honda or Chevy and use the 30K I saved on helping family members, or investing it. I have never understood why people buy extravagant products. I am not a show-off type and never try to keep up with the Joneses.
School systems of the 1950s-1970s had churches attached and stressed helping others, was in-bred with that-type training growing up and also inside our home.
Never purchased things beyond our needs financially. Basic stuff purchased new..... that's it. I'm 66 and still doing it that way.
Please don't tell me Porsches are a better investment. I am 1st and last owner of my vehicles.
It's more about the options you can't get on a lower end car or the performance. For instance, I like the memory seats, they're nice when a family member or friend borrows the car or you have the car serviced or end up with valet parking. Previous car had power seats, but no memory so sometimes it would seem that no matter how you adjust the seat, you can't get it back to the way it was before. Plus family members are doing fine, they never borrow money and they all make a decent living. Plus consider it the end result of investing. When you get multiple years when the returns are really good, you mind as well spend some of it. Like it was said previously, every situation is different.
