Here are the guns that I would like to buy over the next number of years. Any advice or criticism over them???

Also, care to reccomend a good O/U shotgun for trap shooting???? Right now I use a beretta 390, which is a great shotgun, but I really like using the O/Us.

So, here I go:

-O/U shotgun
-Marlin 39A .22
-Ruger 77/17
-Remington 700 (if I get into der hunting with a rifle)

I think these are a good set to do plinking and hunting. Anything wrong with these? Any suggestions to look at instead???

For an O/A, I am quite fond of the Citori line from Browning. I have a Citori XS Skeet and an XT Trap. Beretta makes some fine O/U's as well.

I am not a huge Remington fan, although I still own several. The reasons are flimsy extractors, brazed on bolt handles and almost non existent customer service.
I would recommend you look at a Tikka or a Savage(which is by far the best bang for your buck going).

Instead of the Remington, get a CZ-550. They are excellent rifles at a good price. I have several and they have uniformly excellent triggers, nice iron-sights, and are all forged-steel construction. www.cz-usa.com

I concur with 416Rigby on the CZ-550,they also feature a controlled round feed action,which is a must for some. I have a CZ-550 American Safari Magnum chambered in 458 Lott, it is an excellent shooter and fits me well.

I just bought another Lever Action 22lr and was split over a Marlin (almost $400) or a Henry (at the time under $200) and bought the Henry.

Smoothest action I've ever felt. Very nice shooter and hits where you point it. My dad has a Marlin and when we were done, he said he should sell his and pick up a henry as he liked it better.

Here is the thread on that.. Which 22lr to get?

I like the Henry so much, I may pick on up for 22mag since I just got into 22mag and it's a blast... (I have co-workers who are into the 17mag and I'm afriad to go there...)

Browning Citori's are hard to beat. If you can find an older Beretta 682x, they are worth picking up as well. The only good O/U's Remington ever made were the 32 and 3200. It's probably impossible to find a 32 but there are some 3200's on the market. If you find one, make sure it has all of the updates done.

I am going to echo everybody's sentiments on the CZ 550. They are one of the best built rifles around. Also, forget about the Ruger 77/17. Instead, pick up a CZ 452 American or 453 American. They are the same rifle except that the 453 has a single set trigger and is roughly $100 more than the 452, but still costs less than the Rugers. The Ruger 77/17 and 77/22 have one major detriment to accuracy -- the bolt. It is a very sloppy two piece design, that when locked up, can be moved by pressing up and down on the bolt through the mag well. Go over to www.rimfirecentral.com CZ rimfires are even giving high-end rimfires such as the Kimbers a run for their money. I personally have a CZ 452 Varmint in 22lr, and there is no blackbird safe within 100 yards.

Over/Unders are such a personalized thing. You really have to shoot different ones and find one you like. I had a Citori and HATED it. Beautiful gun but I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with it. Traded it to a guy who loves it. I really like the Red Label, never ended up getting one though. I just stuck with my old pump Model 12.

I have a Ruger Red Label O/U and love it. I go to a few "hunts" during the year and they usually have a clay shooting competition. Anyone can compete and bring their own shotgun. All the shotguns are placed on a table so anyone competing has a choice of which to use to keep things as fair as possible. My Ruger has always become a favorite, gets picked more than any other usually...

I have a couple of suggestions, Go Browning or Berretta in the OU if you are going to put thousands of rounds through the gun.

Also, I am not quite sure if you want 2 rimfires. Do you? The 17 are supposed to be fun and accurate. And while I think the secret is out, Savage makes one of the more accurate bolt guns out there (like in 17). If you can take the plastic stock, you can pick one up in the $200 range as I recall. Just make sure to get the accutrigger, there just awesome.
