shocking engine damage

Watched that last night. My thought: rods never fully tightened, grandpa drives for 30k (but never hard), rods are ok at only half tight though, traded in. First good run and it goes nuclear.

Not sure what the tightening spec is though, but if it is one of those “to 45lb-ft then 90 degrees” then I wonder if the 90 was left off.

Rods torched off to remove the transmission (turned the torque converter?

Seems unlikely to lose 6 rods all at once.
Interesting thought, but the crank was stuck, so i'm not sure if its true. But it would explain why just those two were torched, and why all pistons were at tdc. So… maybe?
