I was thinking of doing a Transgo shift kit in my Mark VIII and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on this? I've heard they are good and others say they are bad on the 4R70W.

I ask because it's either this or the Jmod, and the transgo is a much cheaper option(labor wise) 225.00 for Transgo and Parts vs. 570.00 for Jmod and parts.

Wish I had the tools/knowledge to do it myself.

Thanks.

Thanks for the input. I definately would prefer the Jmod but not sure why they want so much money for it(parts plus 4hrs. labor).

Or does 4 hrs seem fair? I heard if you know what you're doing it doesn't take long.

Still undecided but if I do a shift kit it will either be the Transgo or the Baumann(also designed by a Ford engineer).

I put a Gregg Evans Factory Tech Valve body in my 4R70W (2000 Harley F150) the new valve body is made from 100% ford parts and is an easy swap. I wouldnt have done it any other way.

Gregg Evans was a tranny engineer for ford and designed these valve bodies.

I put it in when the truck had 45K miles on it, it now has 157K and shifts strong just like new.

I had these URL's bookmarked a few years ago, because I planned on doing the J-Mod on my Grand Marquis. Might be of some help:

Thanks for those links, all good sources of information.

I'm not doing anything to the car right now. If I do, I might use a pre-done valve body, such as the one from Blue Oval Chips.
