Thanks for the comments. Close to what I expected. The bike is a 2007 Honda VFR800 Interceptor. Honda manual and shop manual both show 10W-30 as the "preferred" oil, with the typical 10W-40, 15W-40 and 20W-50 being "acceptable" clause. Most of the new Honda products now call for 10W-30.
I have been using more T-6 than anything else with good results, but I don't put a lot of miles on the bike. I ran into a deep deal on to T-5 so thought I would give it a try since Honda "prefers" 10W-30.
Frankly, I am kind of skeptical of the need to buy high dollar oils unless one has an abusive situation or wants long OCI's. I have been riding for 45 years and have never, ever heard of anyone literally wearing out a motorcycle engine out side of real racing. I suppose it has happened, but I would bet that is a less than 1% case. From what I have seen, the only REALLY important thing (other than a reasonably good oil and correct viscosity) is to CHANGE it !
Thanks for the comments. I will make that T-5 earn its keep.
