On my 1980 they are enclosed in the trailing arm amd are also sealed units and not servicable. Any idea if there would be replacememt u-joints out there for this application? Could probably call a couple mfgs such as spicer but maybe.someone here has some knowledge...

You can take some measurements and go to NAPA. You can press out the u-joint and take it in, they will measure it and cross reference it. Now on my Suzuki ATV, they too are sealed units, not serviceable. Suzuki ONLY sells the entire axle half for $250! There are aftermarket U-joints, and they are notorious for snapping off. Be advised, you might have to buy an entire OEM shaft for a half weeks pay!
