They have a number of people that carry the new iPhones and use them for some time before they put them out for sale to the public. My guess is that it’s something in iOS 17 that is causing this.

The Pro model has the titanium frame with a glass back which reminds me of my 4S minus the titanium. The regular iPhone 15 has a 100% recycled aluminium body with glass back.

I haven’t had any issues with mine getting hot. I have seen multiple things about getting too hot or the screen separating or whatever but no issues here so far.
