Came off a coworkers 2010 Chrysler T&C 3.3 V6. It'd been 3 years and 16,000 miles since it had an oil change. It did have a lot of topoff oil added to it since it's an oil stove. The dipstick broke off in the tube and the quick lube places wouldn't change the oil because of it and he lives in an apartment complex so couldn't do it himself. This filter not long ago loosened up and started spewing oil everywhere. The anti drain back valve is hard as plastic and a lot of sludge came out of the oil pan and out of the filter when I cut it open. I think I have a little more respect for those E core filters now after seeing this. I replaced the oil with 5.5 quarts Rotella T4 15w40 and filled a Protec wix 51515 full of MMO and he said its a lot smoother now after his drive home with it. Gee, I wonder why lol.

That was a spotlessly clean drain pan before the oil change. I poured some brake fluid out of my brake bleeding jar in it and it dissolved some of the bigger chunks.

According to some folks on here, 10K on a modern SN/SP dino should be very doable. If he has topped off with "a lot" of oil, then "a lot" of that oil isn't even 16K old.

Really pushing it there, these champ filters seem to be rated for 10k miles, I would not go past 7,500 miles.

With that being said it held up good considering the over-use.

The filter really doesn't look awful for the mileage.

Since there was sludge even with a lot of top off oil, my bet is it took this van a decent amount of time to get to 16,000 miles.
It was changed December 2020. He's had the van for 5 years and like 40-45,000 miles and it's been changed 2 times in that period until yesterday.

By looking at the oil filter here I'd say an ecore filter can handle a 10,000 oil change interval considering Supertech says that right on their box. Someone on here said the nylon cage is strong.

10k is doable in an ecore filter no problem. It does look like the oil is a bit sludgy. Great Story & might be good advice to find the local park or gravel road somewhere to do an oil change on it. Maybe even an auto parts store might allow an oil change in the parking lot if you're at least buying a filter or oil. The convenient thing about that is you're already at the oil recycling center. ha ha

I’m really wondering what it looks like under the valve covers 💩🤔
I'm sure we will find out someday. The engine surprisingly doesn't have any blow by. I/ my dad inherited my grandparents 2008 town and country touring with the 3.8 and I just changed the valve cover gaskets at 80k milles last month because the rear one was leaking. Not sure how my coworkers van isn't leaking from them at 151k yet.

A short-interval change might be good to clear out some of that junk.
But considering the service history, I guess that's unlikely to happen lol.
Cheap filter held up well! Thanks for the post & pics.

He's going to have me do more service work to it pretty soon and plan on changing it again, and probably again after that.

They nylon cage is glass enhanced and they claim it is stronger than the metal cores.
Ive been using the Acdelco ph48 for 10k and have used the super tech version and they still look great

By the look of the filter and your drain pan, the title of your post is perfect. What is scary is jobber filters are rated at 5,000 or 10,000 miles. If this was 5K rated this is extreme abuse!

I honestly expected the pleats to be totally packed with sludge, but a lot of very thick sludgy oil ran out of the filter when I cut it open. I could've eaten my lunch out of the drain pan before the oil drained into it.
