Sending photos w/out their being cropped

My problem is this: When I send a photo in Win 7 it gets cropped into a square. This happens with any photo on my computer taken with any camera I've used in the past. I can select the rectangle size I want but it gets cut into a square anyway.

Are you resizing the pic and saving it as a file before you send it? Most digital cameras these days are taking megapixel size pics which are really too large to send to people. Maybe Win7 is generically resizing them for you. I'm on Linux right now, but when I use Windows I like to use the program Irfanview (it's free) for all my my photo manipulations. Maybe if you resize the pics in a program first, Win7 won't mess with them.

No, I wasn't resizing. My camera has a setting for a size to use with a computer. However, I continued working on this problem and found a way to send photos without any cropping.
I do appreciate your response because there is a lot for me to learn about this.
