Seized Parking Brake Cable - Suggestions?

So passenger side rear parking brake cable isn't moving when hand brake inside the car is being pulled or released.

Driver rear side moves freely, anyway to unstuck or to get it free?

Similar behavior as this one in the thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-problems-fixes-145/parking-brake-cable-replacement-939561/

Thanks for any help.
What year and model vehicle. You may be able to spray some penetrating oil down the brake side of the cable and maybe you can try to work the cable back and forth after a few days with some Vice grips

Are you sure it's a cable? Is the parking brake built into the hat of the rear rotors? Could be actuators, etc.

Need to know the vehicle info. Rear drum or disc setup (or disc with drum-in-hat)?

In any case, cables are usually quite simple to free up with some Fluid Film and a bit of elbow grease. And it's a good idea to clean and lube them annually - and to regularly use the parking brake to keep everything moving.

Sorry it is an 06 Acura TSX - cable is not moving up or down for the rear passenger side. Used silicone lube, what else can I use to free it? Thanks

usually NOT using the parking brake cause issues so use it correctly by putting it on before putting the tranny in PARK + take it OFF after putting it in gear!

Once a cable itself is seized no amount of lube is going to free it up. There is rust between the inner cable and outer sheath that is now pinching the cable, replace it
That seems to be the case and consensus, going to order a new one.

Any thoughts on the replacement or anything should be better than current one? :)

Thank you.

IME aftermarket cables are all over the map from fits "good enough" to basically unusable.

OEM is ideal but may be discontinued or price prohibitive in many instances.

I've never dealt with cables for an Acura. Primarily domestic pickups for my experience.

The parking brake is integral with the caliper. Most likely, the mechanism (not the cable) within is frozen.

Have you inspected the caliper's parking brake mechanism? This is a real possibility.

Detach the cable from the caliper and pull the brake handle up again, if the cable still doesn't move it is the cable that is stuck. If the cable is free to move but the caliper is stuck the handle will be loose and go up higher than normal.

Yes, did check after removing from the caliper - once brake lever is pulled it does move, but does not come back once lever is released and needs a lot of brute force to budge and still does not come out all the way - does it mean cable is bad or caliper issue?

Did notice from the beginning, with lever action rear driver side was moving in and out, while passenger side was stuck as the exact same point and no impact with hand brake.

That is why suspecting actual cable is bad, now thinking could it be a caliper? Appreciate any thoughts? :)

Nine times out of ten, it's the parking brake mechanism within the caliper that's frozen.

See post #5 for a general idea on how the parking brake within the caliper works: https://acuralegend.org/showthread.php?t=22579&highlight=parking

Thanks @paulo57509 - mechanism does seem fine with movement and caliper can be compressed. Removed cable from the spring on the caliper and had to use brute force to pull it out, meaning it is coming back once lever is released. Is this an expected behavior?

Will be receiving a new cable during next week and will compare with current one too. Just in case if it is a piston?
