I have given up on trying to figure out some of the weird stuff that bug chain stores do; I would fathom that they got a tremendous discount purchase from buying a boat load of the promotional 5 quart value pack box; the 5 quart jugs were probably purchased at a different time at a different price and since it has a different UPC code it won't be subject to the bargain rate
