Secret to Long Engine Life

What really bites is when you do everything right, maintenance wise, and major stuff on the car craps out on you anyway.

I have had it happen. The engine starts leaking (GM manifold), the transmission bites the bullet at 75,000 miles, Ford oil pans rusting out, etc.. Major repair bills.

What sucks is that I/you took care of it religiously and it breaks because of poor design/craftsmanship or just plain dumb luck.

And, if you think your car will be flawless because it's a Honda or Toyota, guess again. They have had their share of problems too. I was thinking of buying a UPS van for my next vehicle!

On the opposite end of the scale are those cars that remain tight and trouble free for what seems forever!
