Seattle drivers battle 2 inches of snow

looks like possibly some at least semi frozen ice under the 2 inches of snow.. but that was pretty comical... what I HAVE 3/32" of tread left on my CHINESE TIRES THEY ARE STREET LEGAL. WHY DO I NEED NEW TIRES FOR WINTER. or all them OEM LRR tires 2/3 worn out... hahahhahahah.. wink

We get lots of snow and this video resembles the street I live on during most snow storms! When I go out to help people that get stuck, all of them have bald all season tires. duh

At least it's predictable driving for us flatlanders. I can't imagine dealing with it on hilly roads. One person had the right idea - chains!

Wow I just rewatched it.. they did chain up ONLY the rear wheels of the toyota.. its also the car they show directly after 1:30 with the hazard lights on. I figured they were chaining up all 4 tires the first time I saw it.

lots of things at play here; 1. there is ICE under that snow. all the cars are cutting right through to the pavement, it must have frozen over before the snow came. take a look at the subaru having trouble; when did you ever see a suby have trouble in the snow? 2. summer tires or worn all seasons. summer tire compounds turn rock hard in the cold, useless. 3. inexperienced drivers. not their fault if they aren't used to it. 4. it's on a hill.

Were you there? I shoveled out an Outback in front of my house a month ago that had bald tires; it wasn't going anywhere.

Yeah we got 2" Sat, 4" Sun, 2" Mon, and 5" today....with some rain and freezing rain in between. Frack, it took me about 2 hours to do a 20-25 minute commute. It was fairly nasty. I have snow tires on my FWD Volvo. I barely and I mean barely made it up the first big hill after work. The rest were OK, then when I got to the road the goes up the side of town where we live - aggh the road was closed.....I parked the car in the Safeway parking lot and trudged home. After that, they did a plow, sand/gooze spray/dark sand, and more gooze treatment. Not bad. Wifey drove me down to get the car, perfect. I almost didn't make it up the slope that goes around my garage to my parking pad. I slipped off the concrete and took out some heather....had to back down and get a running start. Didn't see any nasty accidents, but lots of mashed cars. Tonight? 5-10" more. Screw it. I'm staying home.

I own a subaru but they dont go any better than anything else if they have bad tires on it. SUV's trucks and subarus(and honda pilots lol) are always the first off the road. OMG I GOTZ zEE AWD I CAN GO 65 on the icepack!!! 5min later.... but but but I got a subaru why am I upside down in the ditch??? must be defective!! note I came home from work last year to a honda pilot upside down on my side road. I'd agree there is some icing going on but some people just motored right up... i'd say it was edited to show the people failing. all the normal cars chugging up they edited out. So how icy was it? I'd say mostly frozen 1/2" or so under the snow.

That is a Seattle station but as I recall, that was from Portland. The deal is, as someone mentioned, don't get snow every winter. Last year we didn't get any measurable snow for example. Crazy people go out in summer tires. crzy And it's pretty hilly here. The worst to me is when people are actually making good progress up a hill and for whatever crazy reason (scared) decide to slow way down.......and THEN they lose momentum and lose IT. And so I'm forced to lose my achieved momentum. Argggh... I saw some really good driving today as well, of course that's rarely filmed.

Except he was putting them on the non drive wheels. crackmeup
Maybe he already put them on front wheels, video just jumps in there in the middle.

I'm a current victim of the clueless in Seattle. My truck was t-boned while sitting at a stop sign on Saturday. Guy in his 4WD Explorer thought the laws of physics didn't apply to him. My truck gets to spend the next 7 days in the body shop. mad I'm really beginning to hate snow.
