That's not the worst. We have an IT department that was so underfunded or incapable, if you have a dead CPU fan or battery in your laptop, they will take it away from you for a week waiting for parts to arrive, and leave you lap topless while waiting.
I've paid my own money to upgrade some of my own machines, and put labels on it claiming that I have my own stuff in there and if I leave the company those are not company properties. The team across have slightly better equipments, because their bosses are not as cheap as mine.
