Im running it in my wifes Envoy, its at 7500 now, how long should I go before change. It still full & does not look bad.

Schaeffers tech says around 9k,or what is safely good for, however I run 5k or 6mo. whichever is first ,for best protection,,,,,why 15w-40? in your app,,,the 10w-30 would be fine,or even the 5w-40??,,,BL

I run It in my two cummins diesels, I already have enough boxes in my garage. Its just easier then stocking two different oils. I will go to 5/40 come winter. the 5/40 was not avail. when I purchased last.

I've had UOA of it in my Jeep below and it was still held a 8 TBN after 7K miles. The wear numbers were really low also. I usually do 6months or 7500miles whichever is first.

I've gone 9k in my Toyota v8 as my summer oil.
This dipstick was smelling like fuel so I changed it.Too cheap for a uoa.
I do have a case of 5w40 waiting.
One weight all year,perfect.

You've put 7500 miles on it since mid-April? If you used the 15W-40 in the Northeast before then.... that weight may of created excess start-up wear.

If you're Envoy was not oil-sick at the time you installed 15W-40, then anything over 10W-30 is like asking it to become prematurely sick in colder morning months. Now is fine (end of June), but I would switch to a more normal passenger vehicle weight beyond mid-October in that region of the country.

Schaeffer's #700 15W-40 actually tests between 5W and 10W, but calling it 15W-40 sells oil.

I've never seen any of the Schaeffer syn blends good for less than 10k by analysis. You might get some $10 oil test kits from your Schaeffer rep and find out for sure.

I'm going to use Schaeffer's full-syn #9000 5W-40 as my family fleet year 'round oil. It actually is lower viscosity when very cold than Schaeffer's syn-blend 5W-30.

Ken I was just about to say that, when I first checked into it, I found that it flows as good or better than average 10/30 in the cold. I am very impressed with schaffers products. doug
