Hi all, here’s the latest oil run from my 2013 F-150 5.0. A little background, from 30k-104k miles this engine saw nothing except P.P. 5W-20. I got a wild hair and decided to go full BITOG and change things up, both brand and grade!

This oil was in service for just under 4 months and saw anywhere from 5-15 minutes of idling most mornings ( I know not necessary, just cold outside!). My daily commute is 9 miles each way to work and normally an hour drive on weekends plus errands. I also live on a county highway so in the morning it’s straight out of my driveway and up to 60mph. Anyways here’s the UOA for you viewing pleasure!

Matches my great results on the '13 5.0 I used to have. You went almost 1200 more miles than the average, and only about 56% of the Fe wear.

Wear is also a bit better than the previous oil....same wear #s but 1000 miles further.

Seems like the Coyote really likes Schaeffer.

Kuato, it seems that way! I’ve got enough Schaeffer’s for two more runs, so I’ll continue to UOA and go from there. However, these 5.0’s don’t seem picky about what oil you put in them.

Even so, the Schaeffer seems to give better results. Were you planning to go beyond 10k?

Kuato, I doubt that I’ll go beyond 10k but may wind up running it somewhere in that ballpark. Normally I drive around 15-18k/year so as long as the oil is good for it I try to split it and change twice a year, once in the spring and again in late fall.

your truck seems to love it given how well you're doing against the wear averages. i think you could probably call it a 7k mile run every time and never give it a second thought.
