Look really good considering its an idling turbo. What oil did you put in after the sample.

Even with the viscosity lose wear looks great. Allot of these turbo subies are running 40wts are you going to use 9000 5W-40?

I refilled with the same + Auto Rx. I have enough 5W-30 for a few more changes and then I probably will go with the 9000 5W-40 in the future.

does it have an oil cooler? The copper is pretty high comparatively to other wear metals, but I was thinking it might just be sloughing off an oil cooler.

Yeah, has an oil cooler and is common to get a spike (even up into the high 20s for a 3500 mile run).

I'd be a little concerned about this car doing lots of idling and having a sheared or low visc oil....expect the turbo to fail on this car within the next 20k, even with good maintenance and lubrication.

Harsh words. But this maybe why Subaru has limited all turboed engines to 3750 mile oil change intervals.

Not many 30 weights stay in grade past 3k in these engines. Maybe Red Line, GC, Amsoil and M1 0W-40.

I wonder if Schaffer's 9000 would have better results since it's a full synthetic? I see that you're going to a 40 grade anyway.
