This is the oil (I think) I want, but I have a few comments:

1) Holy crap, look at that viscosity index: 142 (the VI of #700 15W-40 blend is 145). Also, it as a Vis of 120/16 at 40°C/100°C and a borderline pumping of -30°/-22° (lower than the 20W50 7000 oil).

2) The "NOACK" is using DIN 51581 and it is a stellar 1.5%. I don't think that is the same test as other NOACK numbers, but for comparison, the Schaeffer's fully syn 5w30 is 9%.

3) It mentions packaging as only in 50 and 30 gallon drums, but this had a Rev of 10/91, so I'm crossing my fingers that this may have changed.

Are these specs for real? I did notice many errors in the #110 MICRON MOLY® RACING OIL SAE 30 THROUGH 50 SJ. In the spec sheet, it was always referred to as 30W-50 and it mentioned "the performance additive package and the viscosity index improver is a proven frictional modifier, Micron Moly.", yet the specs were for straight weight oils.

I know I could have emailed Bob, but this is a little easier and welcome any comments on it.

The high VI is not surprising. A good PAO/ester base oil blend is going to have a high natural VI. Look at the VI of Redline's straight weight racing oils. They are all high enough to qualify the oils as multi-weights. I'd say this oil by Schaeffer could be labeled as a 20w40.

Likewise, the borderline pumping is not surprising. The 7000 oil is a synthetic blend with about 20% PAO. If this is a pure synthetic it will have a lower pour point than the blend.

It would be a good choice for motorcycles. I can't see buying 30 gallons. I could do 5 gallons though.

I think it could easily be labled a 15w40. It has a higher VI than some of the dino 15w40 oils out there so the cold vis has to be lower than those. But, I don't know how the "cP" differs from the "cSt" viscosity measurments.

Also, the 30wt (vi=132) is pretty close to some dino 10w30 oils (vi=134 for Mobil Drive Clean) and has incredible specs as well (HT/HS=5, NOAK=1.5%).
