Well its easy to see S9000 worked very well in my 2006 1.9 notorious PD engine. It's actually is best UOA yet and had the worst conditions. My commute changed to only 2 days a week and the time of day I leave varies so heating the pan was dropped. Mileage is probably down a bit but because my routine changed who can say for sure. This is the first run and I expect the next will be better. I changed the oil but did not change the filters, 1 gallon OC. I am no longer worried about camshaft wear CJ4 oils will protect the PD cam. Now if my flywheel does not disintegrate this car will be a great purchase.

Extend - I think it is so to speak
I changed the oil only and its very close to a 6 qt system. So next OCI 2 qt will have 16k and 4 of course 8k. Next OCI I will change full flow filter so it will be a 4.5 qt change, the following no filters so in the end some of that oil will have 32k some 24k some 16k etc. I guess I will decide when I do the next UOA I believe that 40k per BP90 filter is probably ok. Depending on engine condition and oils initial cleanliness Amsoil says 60k max. This oil purchased in 6 gallon case was very economical less than $6 per quart to my door. We need not spend 10 on a litre of oil, and keep the money in the USA.

OCD, obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Symptoms include preheating engine oil when outside air temperatures drop below 70°F.

See also "Monk", TV series starring Tony Shaloub, for other examples of OCD behavior.

Oh the agony the PAO only crowd shall endure to see a blend of PAO and Grp III do well in a VW. I'm waiting for this paticular guy to chime in about how it does not matter if the UOA is excellent. There's this unseen thingy that takes place if you don't run PAO. It doesn't hurt anything but it's really bad...

Plain ol' Group IIIs do well in TDIs too... most VW spec oils have been Group III for years. Rotella T was Group III, people have run it for 200K or 300K miles with no issues.

But you read the same post by Aaron that I read, that the CJ-4 formulation of Rotella 5w40 might not be as good as the old stuff... that it needs some ZDDP to bring it back up to snuff.

Schaeffer S9000 did the best and is a fully Ester base and POA synthetic oil. It will also go the distance of an extended OCI. Group III's are good, but it is like comparing apples to oranges in certain specifications. A healthy 14 in the viscosity won out over the others as well. Great choice....drop the oil pan heater and let the synthetics work for it's money!

I better correct my misquote:

S9000 has severely hydrocracked synthetic base fluids and polyalphaolefin synthetic base fluids. The friction additive package consists of patented Micro Moly and Penetro.

Yes. GIII and GIV

It could still be a basestock issue and not an additive issue.

I collectively have 35,000 miles on CJ-4 5w40 oils from Mobil and Amsoil. I haven't looked at my turbo, but I'd be surprised if there's any sign of heat damage.

Look at things in PPM/1000 miles and schaeffer S9000 looks about the same within the published margin of error for the wear metal methods. 1-3 ppm doesn't freak me, or any other analyst, out. Consistency is key though so Schaeffer's consistency looks great so far! All and all I like seeing the S9000 in a PD versus some iffy lubes 5W30 bulk fill!! Believe me it happens LOL!
