TAN 1.59

I tested a open bottle with a 07/09 date. Because that was what I put in it rather than the 03/11 stuff I have in sealed containers..
Something funky is going on because the TAN here is higher than my UOA...?

Lab error. Still it's low. You might contact Schaeffer and ask them for a "typical" tan to give you some idea what's "normal."

I suppose it might depend on the lab. Seems like I've seen an industry standard number somewhere, tho. My brain is too full of other stuff to recall it.

Im fairly certain there is a standard for repeatability in the ASTM, but I dont know the standard number and ASTM want $40 to view a standard.

Like I said, if you can get Schaeffers to cough up a normal TAN number for comparison, you can relieve your mind over this without spending any money. Either number is low, so you aren't risking much continuing with the oil.
