Saying Bye to the Bird, Selling Airplane

Wow. Never knew you owned a plane. That’s pretty cool. Sorry you have to let it go. Personally I’d never fly a plane but I’d sit in one as long as it doesn’t leave the ground.

Sorry to hear of selling the plane. But good to know you are getting into boating.

I think anything related to flight is awesome. I marvel looking down at the land from up above. I have flown on a few different planes/jets. Real exiting taking 3 different sized planes to get to the fishing grounds when I fished for my brother in Alaska.

It still amazes me the technolocial leaps since mans first flight, to what is available today. The only flying I want to do that is safe, is Microsoft Flight. Or maybe another alternative. :giggle: Maybe my grand boys might play it and decide to become a commercial pilot. A noble profession in my mind.

This doesn't mean that you have to bid goodbye to flying.
You can always rent some hours on a nice summer day and take a meandering low level journey out and about, or en route to a hundred dollar hamburger.
I know this will not be the same as owning your own, but imagine the money that will stay in your pocket.

Thanks. That's the short term plan. Long term will probably be a partnership on a VFR fun airplane, without the full panel, etc. Low and slow in the sun will be my goal.

I have always wanted a plane. There's many small airports to go land at for lunch around here .

Plus I could look for lost gold and silver mines while flying.
You are in one of if not the best areas in the country for flying, weather wise and flying amenities. I'd have a Cub, similar or any number of experimentals on tundra tires. Weather is a big challenge for flying where we are, especially with the coastal fog.

Final approach to a backcountry strip/shooting range in your general area from when I lived on the Left Coast:

When I drove a truck I would leave Hesperia,ca. Go to either Las vegas or a gold mine near Nipton,ca then to Cal-nev-ari for breakfast and hope a plane landed or was taking off lol

Then to Laughlin to load flyash and back to Hesperia almost every day.

540 miles round trip.

Well, it sounds like you had a good run to me.
From the time I was a kid I always admired airplanes. Always thought maybe one day I would join the Air Force, always thought one day I would take private lessons.

To this day, I admire the small planes on a very small private airport near us, and my son has another private airport near him.

Before moving south gosh two decades now there was a bar and Tavern that overlooked a private airport in Farmingdale, New York and we used to drink there and watch the small planes.

I still look at used ones in the classifieds, I always wanted to own and fly one. A year or two ago, my wife inquired at the small airport near us about a first time private lesson because they had a sign out front, but they no longer do it there.

I always wished and I never did. I have had a full and active life, but that will be one thing in life that I never got to experience.

Have no idea the reason for this post other than to say I admire you that you had 20 good years and I could understand that feeling in a small way as I contemplate whether I am going to keep my motorcycle next year 😕

I had to give up motorcycling too and it was very hard after 27 years of riding. I fell on the ice and broke my left hip. Max weight limit was 250 lbs because my hip needs to be non magnetic because of my profession. I'll just drive our little VW Cabriolet now and get the same gas mileage as my last Gold wing got.
