my sons 2016 hyundai santafe went dead while he was driving on the highway. it would not even turn over.towed to grage the owner tried to start it in the morning.it started right up.tested alternator battery put on computer and showed nothing or coades any one ever have this happen?

Yes, usually when the engine seizes.

Hopefully it has oil in it. Make sure dealer performs any/all recalls and campaigns on that Santa-Fe.

If battery is >5 years old, buy a new battery.

Because it is a POS Hyundai, make sure that your son checks and tops off the oil at every fuel fill up, or at least weekly.

What kind of key does it have?

We had an issue on a Town & Country where the electronic key receiver in the dash would lose signal of the key. It would randomly shut off whenever it wanted. Never a code.

Stopped how exactly? Did the car suddenly go dark= something electrical. Did the car sputter out=something mechanical

Had an Ascender do this, was a broken ground in the battery. Also had a GMC do this, but it would crank and not fire if you did not turn the key Off. Once key went Off and on again was fine. Ended up being the ground from the firewall to the frame.
