Just wanted to contribute by saying that this has proved to be an unreal combo before I asked questions.

I just picked it up with 110k miles and it now has 113k miles.

I use it to go 26 rural/suburban miles round trip every day to the commuter lot.

I changed the oil 3k ago and the dipstick is always full lol. This would probably apply to any vehicle that uses the BP motor (1st generation protege lx to name another).

My B8 SOHC protege was another story, burned oil like no tomorrow...but I got it like that.

I am getting sick gas mileage with this car combined with good driving habits.

A/C and heater work good to and the body is in wonderful shape. The car is so fuel efficient that I have put off any thoughts of getting a Geo Metro XFI or Civic VX. I don't have to live without the HVAC either. (Not sure about the Civic HVAC setup but I know that the XFI means no A/C from the factory).

What I really like is that I don't have to go hunting all over town to get a prime example of either car.

The only thing holding me back from fuel sipping paradise is the 4.10 Final Drive Ratio. Oh well, I know that when I am late for work there will be less issues.

Any thoughts on how far I could push oil changes lol?

Any objections to this oil weight/brand in this vehicle?

Anyone else bored? lol

I like making happy posts, it is so rare for me to be able to.

Thanks!

I ran 8K mile OCI's on Mobil 1 0w-30 AFE in my '91 Escort GT that also saw some autocross duties, didn't burn hardly anything either! Would get up to 36mpg on the highway. I switched to Amsoil SSO 0w-30 and I would lose a quart per 1K miles, as did the next owner, who then switched to PP and is doing fine.

Sorry for the hijack, but the EGT is a great little car that I think did not get enough credit!

Hijack???? Please lol! The information you provided is priceless!

I remember this car being up for sale.

I might just stick with M1 on this . Not sure if I will go 0w-30 though since it never sees highway use unless I miss the last train lol.

I am sure that I am getting a little bit more mpg with the 20w as well along with overinflated tires.

The car is never driven anywhere besides the commuter lot either.

Man that is clean in there!

8k OCI interesting. What sort of oil filter do you use?

I am thinking more like 10k OCI, I just don't want to mess it up, but I have 3 other cars and 3 kids to take care of.

Filter-- Purolator PureOne in the long can (12 instead of 10 as the last two part # digits).

Fantastic little car, a buddy bought it, but not enough room for two kids :)

Nice...thanks! You own Scoobies to eh? I have a Forester XT all modded out. I didn't want to boost the FWD even though the motor can take it...it's just me.

Pics of the 93 only Bimini Blue Escort GT coming!
