This is the filter to my last UOA in the wife's SAAB 900 NG v6. Engine is the b258i alias Opel/Vauxhall C25XE, the small version of the GM 54° v6. Oil used was Mobil1 FS 0w-40.

This was intended to be a short interval, but somehow life got in the way. So the filter stayed on for nearly 15 months and 18576km.

The filter is in construction very similar to the Saab/GM longlife filter 55560202 for the Saab H-engines, but it misses both ADV and bypass valve.
The filters were part of a small stash that came with the car when I bought it. I won't be surprised if they are 20 years old (SAAB-branded filters have not been sold for ages, they were all labeled GM...), but they seem to be holding up fine.

The M1 does seem to do a very good job at cleaning - oil consumption was reduced, fuel efficiency improved a bit and the engine feels much more responsive to throttle input. So I assume that the piston rings are much better now.
There were a few spots of dirt in the can, and a few places were the filter media was filled with dirt. The stuff in the filter is soft to the touch and disintegrates under pressure; if you run it between your fingertips it is smooth. Reminds me of graphite, very similar to the stuff you get when sharpening a 6B pencil.

Nice pictures, filter looks fine. I started to ask where you got the Saab OEM filter but after re-reading your post that is explained. Those are rare birds for sure!

I was indeed wondering if I should use them up - or if I might be better off buying new Mann filters and auctioning the SAAB filters off as rare antique collector's items.

As a owner of Saab's for over 40 years I haven't seen a white OEM Saab filter in over 20 years.

I think only the 9000 v6 and 900 v6 had the white filters, the 4-bangers were blue. Probably to avoid mixing them up - v6 have metric thread (and filters lack ADBV and bypass)), 4bangers imperial (and Filters have ADBV + bypass).
