My Wife got me an early Birthday present. S&W model 66. I was originally wanting a model 19 classic. But it was hard to pass up the $200 LE discount on this one so. I haven’t had a wheel gun in years, this is the start of expanding my collection with a few of them.

I have one I bought in 86, next to my Mdl 17 and Mdl 10 its my favorite wheel gun. No matter what anyone says S&W made a much nicer factory revolver than Colt. Now you need to find a nice Mdl 10 or 15 to go with it. Although I like the adjustable sights on the 15 nothing beats the lines and look of a 4" Mdl 10.

I had an old Model 10 and had a brain freeze moment and sold it about 10 years ago. I regretted it every since. But you’re right, I need to get another to go with this one. Might even get a small J frame too. But I agree, though Colt makes a nice gun they’ve always trailed behind the Smiths.

I also considered a 686, but there’s just something about the L frame that just didn’t make it feel as balanced as this one.

Speaking of K-Frames…

I was just telling the wife that I’d like to get a Model 617.

Anybody have one?

I’d like one in 6” barrel.

That very one. Love it but it’s heavy. That full lug is unnecessary IMO. And, IMO if a full lug is the desired thing, the 4” balances and feels better.

I’d look for an old 17/18. The blueing is awesome.

From the 50s or so…

I believe the Model 18 is also lovely to look at. Agree with you about the Model 10. Hope I can find someone in the family to get mine, but so far not one family member shows interest.
