Those got tore up in the 90's & Early 2000's by the Ricer crowd.....So it wasn't just rust ;). Same thing with 2 door Civic's & Integra's.
Ricers yes, but a ton of Autocrossers snapped up the Si versions of both the Civic and CRX because in the late 90's/early 2000's they were an extremely competitive car for certain classes.
 
I "sold" 2 of them one morning. I was talking to a colleague who normally drove expensive cars. I was telling him about the CRX in such glowing terms that he went out and bought one. He liked it so well he bought one for his wife a few days later.

Yep, weak, but could post some seriously great mileage numbers.


Makes me wonder what a modern powerplant would do in a lightweight car like that. Sure today we're safer and more advanced, but as I've said before, you can't argue with physics. All that advancement has added so much weight to new cars its like we are advancing, but sitting still at the same time.
