I rode my dirt bike for the first time in 6 years last weekend ('95 KTM 250SX). I replaced the fuel, gearbox oil and cleaned and oiled the air filter.
Now, that rusty crank thread has me worrying. I didn't do anything to it other than turn the fuel petcock off before I 'stored' it. I bought the bike new in '95 and it's had nothing but Maxima and Yamalube premix. Now I'm using the Mobil 1 premix (the red stuff 2t maybe?). Should I be worried about internal rust? The bike ran fine.
oh, and my 6 year old bottle of Bel-Ray air filter oil was really thick. Would it be ok to thin it out a little with something like kerosene?
