Hi guys,

My Nissan manual recommends a 40wt oil for my 2.3L VQ V6 engine and I'll be switching to RP during the next servicing.

I believe the delivership used a 50wt oil during the last free servicing.

The car does a fair amount of city driving thus I was thinking of RP 15W-40 as it is a HDEO and should contain more detergents.

What do you guys think?

Tks

I'm currently using RP 10W-30, thinking of switching to Citgo as its alot cheaper."

Are you discussing the needs of one vehicle in this and the Citgo thread, or two? If it is the same Nissan, why were you using RP 10w30 and considering Citgo 10w30 if Nissan recommends a 40wt for the 2.3L V-6? Also wondering why the dealer would use a 50wt if Nissan recommends a 40wt? What is the mileage on the car and was there anything wrong with the RP 10w30?

Hello,

I'm refering to two different cars.

In the Citgo thread, the oil was meant for my 1.3L Suzuki Ignis, in this I'm refering to my 2.3L Nissan Teana.

The dealership won't tell me more about the oil, except its a SL rated 50wt oil which they buy in bulk. They buy the oil in bulk and then rename it to their house brand.
