Hey guy's, I am one of the rookie's here in the forum. I am looking for some info on Royal Purple 15w40 synthetic oil. I will be running it in my 2004 6.0L PSD. I have about 36,000 miles on it now and have been running Rotella T 15w40 conventional since first oil change. I want to change to syn for many reasons. If you could tell me any experiences with RP and what oil change intervals you are doing with it. Thanks for all the help you guy's can give me.

A few years back, I tried Royal Purple 15w40 in my Cummins N14. To make a long story short, it produced one horrible looking UOA. Went back to Chevron and the used oil analysis were back to normal.

Very good point:
That is why do trend analysis can not guess about an oil on one random UOA,s do them at a set 3-5K interval over a few drians then you can say bad one was a cleanout deal or not or high wear metals will mean crappy oil etc.

OH also always have set aside a CLEAN oil sample to send out with a used oil analysis,s as a "baseline" do not count on lab haveing a up to date sample or one that matches what you have a baseline important.

Too many used oil analysis,s on this site that are one time only no baseline no trend and they mean nothing.

You know...it is amazing how often we hear this line of garbage in defense of RP of Redline .."" Yep just wait 2-3 changes and then you will see"

Strangley enough out of all of the UOA we have seen from Schaeffers we have yet to see a bad repot ...didn't matter i the car had been useing Supertec for the last 100,000 miles ..they still got a great report ....
My opinion ..FWIW I wouldn't waste my $$ on RP of RL ..buy Amsoil , Mobil 1 or Scheaffers ( And I have never used Schaeffers!)
