For my Audi I would normally use Mann or maybe Mahle but I am a big fan of RP's synthetic media filtration due to the combination of increased efficiency and flow. My only concern is that the RP filter for my 2003 Allroad 2.7L, number 20-253, is an inch shorter than the "big can" Mann filter I currently have. So the Royal Purple oil filter is a smaller overall size but the l increased filtration is probably the best among all filters currently available made for this engine application. Would the synthetic media allow for enough oil flow? Would the smaller size drastically affect the oil flow?

You know your stuff! That is nearly an inch longer than the Mann or Mahle filters but aside from that everything matches, I'll have to measure and give it a serious look.
