The Purple did well. Not sure about the Pb. Very small number. Could be from the short driving.

Vetteman, is RL next for this car?

I bet she just turns the key and rolls, AC blasting. Looks better than the M1 and fine to me if the she uses it like most young females. This is short trip 4.6k miles and the Pb is under 2 per 1000 when the M1 was over 3. I'd add some 40wt RP or do 10w30 next AR summer for kicks as I'm sure this oil thinned a bit.

Buster,

I put the 5W30 Royal Purple back in this vehicle. She bought a case of it at $4.29 a quart. I am going to run Red Line 5W20 in my Mazda.

She lives in the country and works at a company in the country. So it is start the engine and go. And the speed limit in both cases is 55mph. Also this time her engine was extremely dusty from driving through construction. Heavy sandy residue covered the engine. I am happy with the results and think that the Royal Purple did a good job.

I sent this analysis to Dyson Analysis for interpetation to see if he can find anything that needs correcting. I am sure a new air cleaner is needed. I hate factory flat panel air filter elements, but I dislike reoilable cotton even more. I may try a Napa Gold air cleaner this time. Both analysis were on Mazda oil filters.

Pablo, Thanks, I did add it above. Totally spaced it out. Royal Purple was 9.7 and Mobil 1 was 9.9

The 2 ppm of chrome and 8-10 ppm of lead makes me think you may be ingesting a fair amount of dirt; given the low number of miles on these samples. It would be instructive to get a reading on the nickel level, to see if you're abrading the intake and exhaust valves.

The 35% reduction in "Ferrous Debrie" - in comparison to Mobil 1 - is certainly interesting. Particularly since this service interval was 50% longer.

I'd stick with shorter service intervals until you can get the filtration situation resolved.

what is the
Ferrous Deb. and anti wear?
how is it run or what is that based on.

I'd run it to at least 7K OCI's looks good to me.

Bruce,

This was explained to me by our good friend that met an untimely accident.

So if my memory serves me correct I will try to explain it. The Additive Depletion is the approx. percentage of depletion of additives from the Virgin Oil. So in this case 13% are used up and the used oil has 87% useful additives left.

The Ferrous Debris is the measurement of the oils using a machine that has a dual magnetometer. In fact this is the exact explanation written by Mark:

The PQ ferrous debris monitor is an instrument that measures the amount of magnetic metal (iron and nickel) present in the oil. Although this test is most commonly used for gear compartments we find that it is extremely valuable for engines because it detects the large iron particles missed by the ICP. We perform this test without additional charge on all samples and are one of the few labs in North America that provides this test.
