Rowe HIGHTEC SYNTH RS SAE 0W-40?

high calcium, lack of SN+/SP, other modern approvals. is it really that hard to follow the logic? @chris719 seems to be able to follow along.

It has MB229.5 and VW 502.00. I don't know how many times this has to be repeated; all these approvals are updated regularly.
The latest update for MB229.5 was in 2022, the same as for VW 502.00. Both have to be renewed by the blender after two years.
API in this discussion is absolutely irrelevant.

Maybe. Some list approvals as specifications. SHell is notorious for that.
I would still trust them in this case. The only reason I can see not being approved for MB229.5 is HTHS.
BMW will not be bcs. oxidation and not enough Group III.
Still, API is irrelevant.
 
Well, I don't know if it's that irrelevant. An API SP would offer protection against LSPI in high-risk engines. Since this oil does not have this rating, I advise against using it in such engines.
If you don't believe me regarding approvals, you are welcome to take a look at the official lists for MB 229.5 or VW 502/505 e.g.

That is true, but this oil is not made for those engines, considering it is specified for Euro stuff.
Hyundai or Chevrolet? Yes, that would be a different story. AMG, ANY Mercedes, no.
