I put it in My Polaris 700, was running Castrol Startup 10w40. The engine runs alot smoother on the Rotella. I am pleased with it.

I'm not aware of any Polaris ATVs that use anything other than CTV transmissions. No gears involved. Just clutches and a belt. Very similar to a snowmobile drive system.
The oil in an ATV engine, unless it has a manual transmission will be to lubricate engine components only.

Thanks. Looking at the service manual, I see you are correct. They call the belt/clutch drive a PVT system (by the description, another name for CVT) on my '04 Polaris Sportsman. I was told it was a wet clutch, and took that as gospel. Red-faced here, but in my defense, the unit is in storage, and I haven't worked on it yet.
Polaris' true sport quads (Outlaw, Predator) don't have CVT's, they have manual transmissions and share the same oil with the engine. FYI

My 700 has a separate engine oil and transmission oil, every Sportsman and utility quad, Polaris makes does, even their two strokes. The Racing ones have wet clutchs, but I think this oil would work fine in there too and have suggested this oil to my friend for his sons Outlaw.

What does the 700 have for a transmission that requires separate oil? Isn't it a CVT?
