Once again, I apologize that this was not posted in the preferred format.
I tried several times but just can not get it right.....

The 2% fuel was most likely due to extended cruising at low RPM before oil change.
I did run the engine hard for a few min right before changing the oil but the oil was barely even warm when I changed it.

Probably could have. This was one season's use.

I just don't like leaving used oil sitting in the motor for 5 - 6 months.

I'm just OCD that way.

Besides I like tinkering with my toys and the T6 and a Purolator filter are relatively cheap.

I agree with the changing of the oil. Outboards are pricey. Do the lower end oil as well!! Do you need the 5W part of the oil?

I did change the gearcase lube this past summer and will change it again next spring.
Yamaha recommends doing it twice a year just to make sure there's no water in there.

I'm going to take my first attempt at changing the water pump impeller as well.
Shouldn't be too hard.
I've watched a couple of videos on You Tube and it seems pretty straight forward.

And, no, I don't really need the 5w. I had thought about trying the Rotella 15w-40
but in my OCD mind, I think that the 5w-40 flows better at start-up.
And I swear that the engine just seems to run better with the T6 than it ever did using the Yamalube 10w-30 that I had used for years.
