You could do far worse than T5 in that engine. Run it without worry.
Just thought is wasn't for gasoline engines
That's stuff is ideal for that application. Use it with confidence.
I run diesel oils (HDEO) in all of my outdoor power equipment. They're more robust than most passenger car oils, and still fairly cheap. Don't let the word diesel scare you away. I agree with @ripcord that it is ideal for your usage.

I had given it some thought
but since it’s a new engine I don’t want to void the warranty.
I would use up the 10w30, and then switch to the 15w40 HDEO if it were me.
I prefer 15w40, I have been exercising my generators with it every month and
I like it. I happen to have some Mobil Delvac and some Super Tech 15w40
ready to go.
Your Honda will be Okay. But if your not comfortable, just run the 10W-30 you have on hand. GCV 160 is a tough engine. Only needs some oil in the sump and it runs like a champion - Okay, I own one

and my 10 hp Subaru and 9 hp BS Vanguard engines seam to like it as well.
T5 is what I run in my B&S 20 HP Twin. A good stout oil in my opinion. Ed
I’ve never tried T5 but I hear it is an outstanding oil!
I’m running Redline 5W-30 in mine now, then I’ll go back to T4 10w-30 or Delo SDE 15W-40.
I have heard of Delo XLE 15w40, there are so many great oils it’s hard to put my
finger any one particular oil.
The "best one" is the T5 10W-30 you have...without the S rating.
