Rotella T in a vintage gas engine?

Not knowing much about oil and trying to learn.
I have a vintage (1970) gas engine never been rebuilt. I was told that the new oils offer little protection. It has not ever had a synthetic in it either.
I do have in my garage a gallon of Rotella T API CI-4/SL CI-4 Plus.
Is this acceptable to use in this engine or should I be also running a zinc additive?

That's what I use for my 71 Cutlass.

thats fine. it has roughly 1.5-2x the zddp as api SN

it also depends on what type of valvetrain your engine has.

non-rollerized with extra strong springs need the most.

Totally stock stamped rockers non roller, stock standard springs.

Probably doesn't HAVE to have the extra ZDDP, but it couldn't hurt to have it. IMHO especially if it's a GM engine that's known for wiping cam lobes!

I have a 427 Corvette and a SS Malibu big block, both with healthy flat tappet camshafts. Both have survived numerous runs through to 6,000 RPM using Rotella 15w40 and the much hated "orange can of death". Never a problem doing once yearly oil changes.

It's fine for the stuff I drive, so you should be ok. That's the current fill in my Buick and Chrysler now.
