I just got back the results of an oil analysis on my '84 diesel VW Rabbit. While the sample only has 2040 miles on it, it had been 3 months since the last oil change. Blow-by past the rings was really bad, as you can see from how much make-up oil I added. After this oil change, I started cleaning up the engine with Auto-RX and have travelled 1000 miles in this ARX clean phase. Consumption seems to have really improved with the ARX and so I'm assuming that it is cleaning the carbon from the rings. Regardless, aluminum and iron are high. Any chance that ARX will help this? I'd like to stick with the 10w-30 Rotella if possible. But I'll change to 15w-40 Rotella if that is the only way to fix the aluminum numbers. Your thoughts?
