Try a 5W-30 next time.

how do you know its shearing? he used an oil additive.

LC20 dose as spec'd would have been ~ 4oz at initial fill, plus an oz every 1k miles

Perhaps 7% of the sump, is what I estimate? Looks as though LC20's visc is similar to a "20 wt oil". The Civic Si is a high revving little engine, perhaps that also contributes.

Either way, wear is low, no contaminants. No issues.

Oopss... You got me:)

I've been driving it conservatively because I'm trying to maximize the FE. I've been keeping it under 4K RPM or less.

I can't see adding just 4 oz of LC20 lowering the oil's viscosity much.

Moly 82
Boron 50

Could the moly and boron come from the LC20?

Virgin samples of Rotella 10w-30 show almost no Moly and very little boron....If I remember right.

Any inexpensive oil, such as Motorcraft and Supertech (Warlmart).
