I bought a Bosch 11247 Spline Drive and the Owners' Manual recommends lubricating the spline end of bits before insertion into the tool. The Owners Manual is here and the recommendation is on page 7.

The link works if you copy and paste it.

I have three other rotary hammers and none of the Owners Manuals call for lubrication of the splines.

Do you lubricate the splines?

I have about seven total rotor hammers 3 bosch and 4 hilti. 5 SDS+ and 2 SDS MAX. None of which are the spline type.

I have made several thousand holes with them and never once lubricated anything. holes as big as 2"

My Bosch also came with the tube of grease for the splines.

The grease just makes it a bit messy because a rag is not always handy when you are drilling holes. I will use the grease and deal with the mess.

BTW, tom slick, were all of your Boschs and Hilti spline drives?
