Completely fair and, again, I'm not saying its indefinite. Let me make a few more comments and then I think that we'll agree that we agree on 98% and we're bickering over the remaining 2%

So what you are telling me is that your oil contains 1% or more of fuel even after a 45 minute highway drive? So it's a chronic condition as a result of the engine design/tune? If so, then absolutely, it's something to be aware of...
But if you can get it down to .5% or whatever after a single long hot drive, then it's not really of concern to me unless its in combination with significant shear.
I agree that top-off is not the same. However, I'll make one note to that: leaking oil and topping it off is almost the same as changing the oil; burning oil and topping it off leaves residues behind. I'm assuming you are the latter, like me.
Nonetheless, you do get rid of alot of stuff when it does burn off and you replace it with goodness
