Two years ago I bought a Rigid 18v lithium iron cordless drill.
One reason I opted for this make was the advertized Lifetime warranty on the Drill Charger and Battery.
Now, at the time I thought that might be too good to be true, but what the heck, I'll jump through the hoops and register it and hope for the best when the time comes.
This last week I noticed that the charge was not lasting as long as it used to. it was getting a bit of a nuisance as I only have the one battery.
Today I returned the drill to HD to see what the procedure is the claim on the warranty.
Customer service told me that after 90 days claims were handled by a service center (the closest one to me is in the next town)
Service Center asked for my Registration # which I have lost.
"No Problem, Give me the serial # on the drill and your phone #"
"OK are you Expat?"
"Good, we don't have one in stock, it may take two weeks to arrive. I'll give you a call when it's here, and you can come down and exchange it. Please make a note of the Reg# for me"
To be honest, I thought I'd have to fight for this.
This is better service than I had hoped for especially after reading some of the experiences some people on the net have had.
Just thought I'd pass this on
