I just received a 4.5 oz can of Birchwood Casey Rig #2 gun oil. The can actually had a "Rig #2" label applied over what turns out to be a can marked as synthetic gun oil.

Do you think Rig #2 gun oil is just Birchwood Casey's regular synthetic gun oil relabeled?

I sent Birchwood Casey an email asking the same, but until I hear from them I was wondering if anyone had some insight on this product.

Thanks.

Here is the response I received from Birchwood Casey:

"Dennis,

Thank you for your note.
Birchwood Casey has their own synthetic gun oil as well as the Rig 2. It was cost effective to use the same cans and just pay extra for the RIG 2 labels. The synthetic oil cans are actually used for several of our products. We just purchase different labels.

Birchwood Casey bought the RIG line when Silencio went out of business.

The RIG oil is a unique oil and not the same as the Birchwood Casey brand of oil. Attached is the MSDS for the RIG #2 products.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your business, we appreciate it.
