Good news. A memo has landed on my desk. My nemesis of the past 16 years, Old Stubblechin, the mustachioed HR lady has handed in her resignation effective September 1st. She is retiring due to undisclosed health issues and because she wants to dedicate her time to her wife and their six adopted poodles. I'm so happy for me. Of course, who knows what her replacement will be like. But really, it can only be an improvement. I need to find a parting gift. I'm thinking overstuffed food hamper/gift basket with a 'Go Away Now' note. I should throw in a pair of heavy-duty compression socks.

Don't woery guy. She's always gotten something nice for her birthdays and for Christmas ftom me. She loves Dandelion chocolates almost as much as she loves brandy and gin. Maybe I'll buy her a Harry's Razors subscription.

Don’t hold back and tell us how you really feel! Telling old Stubble Chin how you really feel could be counterproductive though. It could be the bosses undercover niece..

Congratulations.

That having been said, if it was me, unless I was the one retiring and I knew I'd never have to deal with the person again, I would just let the occasion pass without any sort of acknowledgement. But that's me. ;)

It's lots of fun to contemplate parting shots.

But we get paid to be professional.

But sometimes it's those fantasies that help us get through the day... Just remember, someone, somewhere, probably has the same opinion of you.

"HR" is a thankless job-with more regulations and possible litigation than ever before. If you are an "HR" person" and you are doing your job you will get people upset. But what she did or didn't do could cost or save the company millions through lawsuits.

I understand that. I have never been mean to her like some of my colleagues. One of them reported her to Internal Affairs for corruption.
