Where else to post?
How do I remove synthetic motor oil stain from denim? I used to just pre soak with GoJo when I used non synthetic oil. Wondered what the stain was from on on a pair of Levis. Recently did oil change w/Mobil1. Now I know what that other stain was. I pre soaked with Formula 409. Did nothing. Soaking overnight w/GoJo right now. Any ideas?

Dawn, and work it in like you love it. Wash in warm water, do not dry. Work some more dawn in, work it in like you love it even harder, wash in warm water again.

Works on butter and cheeseburger stains too. But only if you catch it before you dry it.

What part.. if its a leg put a towel inside too. so you dont force it into the other fabric.

Sorry I made another post on subject as this original post did not appear to take. Moderator please remove the second one.

Not yet. On the previous pair the black stain appeared to vanish but now there is a very light yellowish stain. I never put Levis in the dryer unless they are brand new shrink to fit the first time (How else are the going to shrink before months duration?) The current pair has not dried out.

Wonder what the uniform supply people use?

I take pride in my stain removing abilities. LOL. I have a arsenal of products.

I'd try dishwashing detergent + Simple Green + Lestoil + OxyClean. Brush it in the stain well with a brush. Not too stiff of a brush that would damage the fabric.

Funny enough, as I fancy myself a stain removing aficionado, I happened to sit next to the man than cleans the uniforms for a major league baseball team about 10 years ago and I peppered him with laundry questions. Amway powder detergent and OxyClean were the preferred products at the time.

I'm posting about synthetic motor oil stains. Was always able to get non synthetic motor oil stain out but not able to with synthetic. This pair is one of the better of my old ones. I toss the worst old ones I use for really nasty jobs.

try using jungle jake full strength on the oil spot, work in the fabric by hand then wash & soak,,worked for me on my uniforms when i washed them.

JJ a new one one me. Thanks. I see it on Amazon. I did a second application of GoJo and then worked Dawn in from both sides. That worked after I washed again. Next time I do an oil change, I'm putting on my worse pair of Levi's.

Oil eater, or ESPRO found at Walmart among other retailers. The ESPRO got curry stains out of my dads work shirt. He was thoroughly impressed.

Brake Clean.
This^^^^ Put a towel/rag on the front/outer side of the denim and spray brake cleaner or carburetor cleaner from the back side. Move the stain to a clean spot on the towel and repeat to flush out the oil residue. Then, pre-treat the spot with Dawn or liquid Tide detergent and wash in hot water.

I have pants, shirts and sweaters set aside, just for oil changes. All of em' have stain memories that I've never cherished

Heck, I even have spare sneakers that are all scuffed-up at the toes & heels, from sliding under and back out from the vehicles.
